The music video for 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen made it to the 100 Greatest Music Videos and ranked at number 4. The main reason for the band making this promotional video was that they had reached the top of the charts for such a long period of time that they did not want to keep appearing on 'Top Of The Pops' each and every week. Being top of the charts was good but it also meant they couldn't go touring, so they came up with this idea of using a simple video of them singing the song that they could play on TOTP. It has been said that this video was the big launching of MTV.

3. A-ha - Take On Me
The music video for 'Take On Me' by A-ha made it to the 100 Greatest Music Videos and ranked at number 3. The main attraction for this video is the use of rotoscoping, this is where the live footage they captured is traced over frame by frame to give the idea of the sketched characters having realistic movements. It took roughly 16 weeks to complete.
14. Christina Aguilera - Dirrty
The music video for 'Dirrty' by Christina Aguilera made it to the 100 Greatest Music Videos and ranked at number 14. This music video was probably one of the most controversial of all Christina's videos. I think that the name of the song pretty much gives away the kind of content it contains. Everybody knew Christina from her younger years as being a sweet and innocent young girl, alongside the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake on the Mickey Mouse Club. People did not take to Aguilera's new public image and some even went so far as to brand her as 'the world's skeeziest reptile woman'. In the music video we see Aguilera dancing seductively around a boxing ring half naked, as the video progresses she then takes it that step further to get rid of even more of her clothes.
41. Spice Girls - Wannabe
The music video for 'Wannabe' by the Spice Girls appeared on the 100 Greatest Music Videos and ranked at number 41. This music video believe it or not is actually taken in just one shot! The girls were followed around by a steadycam operator. They would sing in their first places and then have to run the next point in time, so it is probably a good thing that they are only lip-syncing! It was said that the whole idea of the video was to capture the madness of the Spice Girls. There is also something very obvious about this video that many people picked up on and that was how much Victoria AKA Posh Spice appeared within the video. She was targeted within the group as being the one that did brought absolutely nothing to the table. Although in some countries it was deemed inappropriate, within the first few hours of it being aired in Great Britain it reached the top of the viewers charts and it stayed at number 1 for 13 weeks!
Charly Houston
Charly Houston is the artist whose song we have chosen to use for our music video. We emailed her asking for permission and she kindly agreed to allow us to use the track for our music video. We are currently waiting for her to send over the track and also a copy of the lyrics to the song.
A Little More About Charly -
Charly Houston is a 15 year old girl currently living in Glasglow. She plays the drums, keyboard and also the guitar which she has been learning to play for eight years. Music has clearly been a big part of Charly's life, she started to write her own songs at the age of 11 and four years on she managed to brave the internet and upload her songs online. Charly believes that her song lyrics are very meaningful, she really wants to make it big , she just needs the chance to be able to change the industry.

Song Permission
In my group we came across an unsigned artist called Charly Houston, she had a range of songs that were available to browse but her original song 'Paper People' really stuck out for us. We emailed her asking for her permission to use and create a music video for her track and she replied back within a couple of days allowing us to use her song. Me and Jessica are currently brainstorming ideas for this video and are very excited to start filming.
Here is an image of both the asking and receiving permission -

My 3 Favourite Music Videos.
Ed Sheeran - Lego House
Another one of my favourite music videos would have to be 'Lego House' by Ed Sheeran. This video all about a fan of Ed's who basically wants to be him, and he sneaks onto his tour bus and on stage acting as though he is actually the singer himself. The casting of the fan was very clever as they used a pretty good look-a-like Rupert Grint, also known to many as Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter films. This video reminds of of Eminem's 'Stan'. That video had the same kind of idea, of a crazy fan that gets really attached and basically wants to be the artist.
The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved

One of my favourite music videos is ' The Man Who Can't Be Moved' by The Script. The story of the song is about a man who is still in love with a girl and can't move on so goes back to the place where they met in hope that she will decide that she misses him and will go back to him. The video itself is of the singer Danny playing the man who can't be moved. The video basically follows him walking towards the place where him and the girl first met and he sits around waiting for her. We see people pass him and look at him as if he is a broke man, but he is actually as the song quote ' a broken hearted man'.
Goyte - Somebody that I used to know
This is also one of my favourite videos. It was directed and produced by Natasha Pincus, I like its uniqueness but also just how simple it looks.
