Poster Ideas
Today Jessica and I sat down and talked about some ideas we had for our poster. We both were on the same kind of wavelength so ti was a fairly easy process to do. We talked about the essential things that needed to be included, then went on to discuss our own personal ideas I.e the picture we would use, the layout and the different colours we would use.
After we discussed our ideas we decided to search for a few pictures that showed the ideas we had come up with. I come across this photo which was similar to an idea I had about using polaroid photos in some way for a unique look. Although we originally thought about using the lyrics in the photos instead of a face.
We also come across this poster. Jessica had great interest in this photo as she liked how it comes across vintage. She also thought that the text used was very girly and looked like something we would consider using for our own poster as it had a unique style to it. I agree that the text really draws your attention.
Digipak ideas
Today Jessica and I talked about our ideas for our digipak. We talked about the obvious things we would need to include i.e barcode , name of artist and song/album title. We then thought about the genre of the song we picked and what kind of artwork people would be looking for. Would they buy something really bold and out there or are they the type of person that would prefer something more subtle and calming. We came up with quite a few ideas and are looking forward to starting this process and creating the digipak.

Locations
Robert Clack Dance Studio
This is our first location for the filming of our music video. This location will be used for the first few shots, it will include a girl dancing in front of the mirror. It will switch between the different shots of her dancing in the studio , to playing the chords of the song at the very start on a piano in a bedroom.
Hainult Forest
This is another location we have chosen to film at. This location will be used after the dance studio as she opens the curtains at the door in the dance studio and then we cut to her walking through the forest. We are also going to use some shots of her sitting down on the green.

A2 MUSIC VIDEO.
Rosie - Daisy Dares You
I really enjoyed watching this music video. I think that its everything you want from a music video all bundled into one. Its fun and exciting to watch and keeps your eyes peeled to the screen. The group for this music video you can tell have really put a lot of thought into their ideas and were dedicated to making the video interesting and unique. The dedication shows through the different locations we see within the video, they have used a forest, someone's back garden, a lake/river location and also London. The only thing I could critise about this music video is that they could have thought more about using different camera angles to make it more interesting for the viewer, they have used close ups etc but adding a different angles I think would have really given the video something extra. I agree completely with the colours and lighting they have used for example the bold coloured clothing and using natural light for the shots. As this really goes well with the mood of the song, it is really syncopated and upbeat so using dull and monotone colours wouldn't have suited it at all.
I think that the girls ideas for their digipak are quite creative, yet simple and not too over the top at the same time. There seems to be a little bit of a theme with the poster and digipak, as the main picture on the poster is picture of them looking like they are taking a picture and the digipak pack photos looks like ones they have taken with this camera whilst out filming in all their different locations. The layout is fairly simple, with the Polaroid photos scattered out into small collages. I think that whilst there is a lot of colour on this digipak design, the background for all the different sections is kept simple and dull so that the different colours all stand out really well.
.
This groups poster really stands out. I like the effect that they have used to only have specific parts of the poster in colour, I think they did this to make it stand out from the rest. I think the picture they have used as well is quite imaginative as well. If I saw this poster I think it would stick in my mind and I would definitely go and check out the song, or download it , etc.
Preliminary - what have I learned?
Filming - On filming this preliminary task I have learnt how to use a variety of different shots and angles. Something that I need to be aware of is that the lighting did effect the quality of some of the shots. For example the shots of me from a distance standing in front of the green had a very bright contrast because of the way the sun was reflecting etc. I also think that I should, to ensure I get the shot exactly how I want it, record for a few seconds and then have a look at what has been recorded so that I am happy with the outcome, as some of the shots I feel were a little off centre or included bits of scenery that I didn't want to be in the shot.
Editing - The editing process for my preliminary took at least one week and a half, nearly two as I was determined to match up the lip-syncing exactly to give a better effect for the video. I experimented with different transitions and found that some of them were too extravagant and in your face for just this preliminary task. I tried to get all the different variety of shots we took into the video to show contrast.

Famous Album Art
This is album artwork for 'MIKA'. The mixture of colours is what really catches your attention, along with the very randomly placed cartoon images. What I do love about this artwork is that just on the left side you can see an image they have put in a real life picture of Mika himself so that even though there is lots going on in the image and not everything is real life, among all this his there somewhere. I also love the style of artists name as it goes along with the cartoon type theme but is clear to us.
This is the album artwork for the album titled 'The miracle' by Queen. Although we have this obvious, unusual center piece , the rest of the artwork is quite plain and simple which I personally think makes the artwork seem more interesting because we are focused on what seems to be a merged image of each of the band members faces. This, I would say is a very unique styled piece of artwork which is not easily forgettable. I think it's simplicity is in contrast with their music such as the song 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is very out there and extravegant.
A simple, stunning and effective piece of artwork. '21' by Adele is the biggest selling album of the 21st century and has even outsold Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. This effortless , stunning artwork is a clear reflection of Adele herself, and her flawless voice. I really am drawn to monotone theme, with the slightest hint of colour to stand out ever so slightly. I also think that the monotone style also reflects her type of music. Adele , to us, is very famous for her single 'Someone like you' which is not exactly the most upbeat, body pumping song to ever be written. It focuses on emotion, life and even though the song is about moving on and wishing someone the best, it is still considered quite a depressing, bad mood go to kind of song.
This is the album artwork for 'Celebration' by Madonna. It is contrasting with its attention to detail and then paying no attention to detail what so ever. The whole cover is made up of Madonna's face, we see clear detail of every aspect of the picture excluding the colour. What it looks like is that it has been coloured in using the 'spray paint' tool in Paint. It looks as if there was no accuracy at all , but that's what makes it interesting, the color goes across the lines, which goes against what we were all pretty much touch at a young age which was to 'stay within the lines'. This could give a slight reflection of Madonna and her character, in that maybe she's a little rebellious and goes against things sometimes.

Vox Pops
'Vox Pops' - The voice of the people , this is basically a fun way of research. You will see an interviewer ask someone, who is more than likely already prompt, a question like they are just a random person from the public. You see lots of these on programmes such as the news or 'This Morning' to get peoples thoughts on soaps, headlines etc.
As a group Jessica, Shelby and myself have created a practise vox pop. Of course the questions are based around music videos, where you watch them and your favourites etc. We have staged the questions/answers. Again this just a practise run before we go out and do the real thing.
